Perfect Fishtail

The first style of today is something very simple. Except, if you don't exactly know how to fishtail...It can be kind of hard.
I wear this style everywhere because its so laid back and it also looks really pretty.

Requires:
1 rubberband
1 clear elastic
Bobbi-pins (not nessicary)

Tip: To make the braid very sleek and tidy, add smoothing balm to your hair or just braid it when it is wet. To make it very loose and messy, you can tease your hair, use second-day hair or you can braid it without brushing it.

Braids into a Ponytail

This will probably be my last post of today. This is one of my favorite hairstyles...on good days. Even though I have naturally straight hair, I normally straighten it for this style to get extra length. Again, I have seen people wear this EVERYWHERE.

By the way: I can assume you all know how to braid, if not, go check out Braids into Low Messy Bun and watch the "How to French Braid your Bangs" tutorial at the bottom.

Requires:
1 rubberband
1-3 Bobbi-pins (if desired)

How to do this style:
Step 1: French braid a small chunk of hair down to the bottom and secure with rubber band or hold it in your mouth ;)
Step 2: Pull all your hair back into a ponytail either on the top, middle or bottom of the back of your head (your choice.)
Step 3: You can choose to cover the rubber band with your hair or not, I normally do though. (How to wrap hair around your rubber band can be found here: Sleek Ponytail (covered rubberband)

There you go!:)

Braids into a Low Messy Bun

I am on a role today with these hairstyles. My twin sister kindly agreed to let me do her hair today and this is what I came up with. This simple style is very laid back. It probably isn't something you would wear to a soccer game or to P.E. because it can fall out, but it is perfect for work, parties and all that stuff that you do.

Requires:
2 rubberbands
1-3 Bobbi-pins (not nessicary)

Right Side

Left Side
How to do this style:
Step 1: French braid a small chunk (about 2-3 inchs) of hair until it is all the way down to the bottom. You can either tie it off with a rubberband or hold it in your mouth like I always do:)
Step 2: Repeat on the other side of your head.
Step 3: Pull all the hair back into a low ponytail but on the last loop, pull the hair halfway through.
Step 4: Pull excess hair around to the top of the bun and style as desired. You can bobbi-pin it if you don't like the messy look. You can tease it to give it more volume (that is what I did:)

There you go!:)

Don't know how to french-braid your bangs?

Hair Bows

It took me a while to figure out how this would work. I finally figured it out when I was coming up with styles to do today! Yay:) Well, this is very adorable. It can be worn almost everywhere but I think it is better for things with the girls like baby showers, girls nights, shopping and all that jazz.

Requires:
2-3 Bobbi-pins
Hairspray (not nessicary)

How to do this style:
Step 1: Gather 2 strands of hair from each side of your head (MUST BE EQUALLY SIZED!!)
Step 2: As if you are tying a bow, tie your two strands of hair together (Hold onto it, because unlike shoes, the hair will fall out!)
Step 3: Take a bobbi-pin and push it UP through the bottom of the bow and secure it to the hair underneath it.
Step 4: Take another bobbi-pin and push it DOWN through the bow, creating an X with the other bobbi-pin.
Step 5: Pull the loose parts of the bow around and fix them the way you want. I always pull them over the loops and leave them to make it more loose and laid back, but you can bobbi-pin them underneath the loops to make it more classy.

There you go!:)

Sleek Ponytail

This is basically the same as my last post, but it is a little different. This type of a pony tail is something you can wear to weddings, graduations, parties and maybe just around the house. It is fast and easy, as well as stylish and laid back.

Requires:
1 Rubberband

1-2 minutes (at the most!:)

How to do this style:
Step 1: Pull hair into a side ponytail and secure with a rubberband.
Step 2: Grad a small-ish strand of hair from the ponytails (works best with the hair closest to the neck.)
Step 3: Wrap the strand of hair around the rubberband, covering it (leave part of the rubberband visible, closest to the neck, for next step.)
Step 4: Once wrapped around the rubberband, tuck the small strands end into the visible rubberband (bobbi-pins work as well but its easier this way.)
Step 5: Pull the strand through and loosen and tighen it to your liking.

There you go!:)

Fish-tail Pony Tail

I saw this style on a friend at school and HAD to try it out. If you know how to fish-tail braid your hair, it can literally only take a few minutes to do. I also wrapped my hair over the rubberbands to hide them, but you don't have to do that. That was my touch :)

 Requires:
2 rubberbands
Brush
Hairspray (not nessicary)
Smoothing Balm (not nessicary)

The hairspray and smoothing balm can be used to make it have a sleek and elegant texture. You don't need to used these. If you are having a lazy day or what-not, you can easily curl, crimp, tease or shake your head around to make it look like you just got out of bed.

How to do this style:

Step 1: Pull your hair to one side of your head and secure with a rubberband
Step 2: Take a small chunck of hair from the back on the ponytail and wrap it over the rubber band and tuck it into the rubber band in the back.
Step 3: Fish-tail braid the hair hanging down till it is about 3 inches long.
Step 4: Secure that with another rubberband and repeat step 2.

TADA! Only takes a few minutes.
Enjoy!

Dont know how to fish-tail braid??

Tip: Use small strands of hair to make it tight and sleek. Use larger strands to make it more loose and laid back.

High Messy Bun

I do this style a lot on days where my hair just DOESN'T want to do what I tell it to do...and that is almost everyday. I love this style also though because you can mess with it the way you want to mess with it. You can add a bow, a ribbon, a headband or even a bandana. Make it your own style.

Requires:
1-3 rubberbands (depending on hair-thickness)
Bobbi-pins
Brush
Hairspray (if nessicary)
Headbands, etc.

What I do with this style: Second-day hair works great with this hairstyle. I always like it to look like it is connected to my head, but there are other ways to do it so it looks like it is high or loose.

Attached are some of the best video tutorials.

For any length hair: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfSsYqWAd3A (I always use the second way she does)

Sleeked-Back Poof

I found this hairstyle at cutegirlshairstyles.com a few days ago and had to try it out. It is very simple and only requires 5 minutes to do. I recently used this in a photo shoot that is did on my other blog (The Light in the Dark.) It has this edgy side where you can wear it to school, to work and even to a party or concert.

Requires:
Bobbi-pins
Rubberbands
Hairspray (if needed)
Brush
Comb

I will attach the link to the video on cutegirlshairtstyles.com below my photo.
Try it yourself!

What I did a little differently with mine is: I only did one ponytail back under my poof. I also, to secure the poof, Bobbi-pinned the poof right above the ponytail to make sure it stayed on the top of my head.

Tip: Straightening your hair before doing this makes it way easier to sleek it back.
